Softball drops doubleheader at Westminster

FULTON, Mo. -- The softball team will enter the 2017 SLIAC tournament as the second seed as they lost 4-3 and 5-3 to Westminster on Friday.

Game one saw Greenville eliminate a two run deficit with a three run sixth inning, but Westminster pushed across two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the win.

Kate Jolliff was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

Brianna Anderson was given the loss despite pitching a complete game.  She allowed four runs on seven hits and three walks.  She struck out two.

In game two, Greenville went on top 3-1 in the top of the fourth, but they saw this lead slip away when Westminster got two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.

Tiffany Samsoe, Jolliff, Becca Oldham, Shelby Cash, and Cayla Speaks were all 1-for-3.

Caitie Opp pitched five innings as her record fell to 4-4.  She permitted five runs on nine hits and whiffed two batters.

The Lady Panthers (21-15, 14-4 SLIAC) will face Webster on Thursday in the SLIAC tournament.
