Softball slips in pair at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The softball team dropped a pair of games against solid competition at Transylvania on Friday.

Greenville lost the first game against Calvin 9-1 as they only managed to get one hit, an RBI single by Becca Oldham.

Caitie Opp was charged with the pitching loss after two innings pitched and four earned runs.

Greenville's second game ended with a 2-1 loss to Transylvania in extra innings.

Kate Jolliff Rosado homered in the fourth inning to give Greenville the lead that they held until the bottom of the seventh.

In the seventh, Maegan Stone allowed Transylvania to plate the tying run, and then she gave up the winning run in the bottom of the eighth after a single scored the runner that was placed at second base.

Rosado had a 2-for-4 performance, and Beth Mersinger went 2-for-3.

The Panthers (2-4) continue competition in Lexington on Saturday.
