LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The softball team took a pair of losses on Saturday in Kentucky. The Panthers lost the first game 4-3 to St. Mary's before closing the trip with a 13-4 loss to Olivet.
Greenville fell behind 4-0 in the game against St. Mary's before mounting a three run rally in the top of the sixth.
The Panthers received an RBI single from Becca Oldham, a sacrifice fly from Beth Mersinger, and an RBI single from Cayla Speaks to score their three runs.
Speaks was the losing pitcher. She went 3 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on two hits in the tough-luck decision.
Jordyn Wieland produced a 3-for-4 hitting performance for Greenville, and she added a stolen base.
Greenville fell behind 5-0 in the game against Olivet, and their catch-up efforts were not enough.
Mackenzie Jackson started the game in the circle and could not get out of the first inning as she was peppered with four runs in one-third of an inning.
Caitie Opp relieved Jackson and gave up five runs in two innings, and Speaks came on to close the game over 4 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run.
Maegan Stone went 2-for-4 in the batter's box, and Josie Koontz scored two of Greenville's runs.
The Panthers (2-6) host Buena Vista in a doubleheader on Friday, March 9.
