Softball splits doubleheader at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The softball team played their doubleheader against Spalding a day early.  They won the first game 8-4 and lost game two 5-2.

In game one, Greenville held a 4-1 lead after three and a half innings and scored four in the sixth for an 8-2 lead.

Caitie Opp was the winning pitcher.  She went 5.1 innings and allowed four runs.

Becca Oldham was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.

Cayla Speaks also homered.

In game two, Greenville got two first inning runs, and that was all as Spalding answered with three in the bottom of the first and single runs in the third and fifth innings.

Speaks gave up all three runs in the first inning, but she was relieved by Maegan Stone who went 4.2 innings and only permitted two runs.

Josie Koontz had an RBI triple in the first inning, and Kate Jolliff Rosado drove her in with an RBI single.

The Panthers (5-12) host Eureka on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in a doubleheader.
