Softball sweeps Eureka

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The softball team earned a couple of hard-fought conference victories with 8-4 and 5-4 wins over Eureka on Tuesday.

The Panthers used six runs in the third inning to take control of game one, and scored five runs over the second and third innings in game two to erase a 2-0 deficit.

In game one, pitcher Caitie Opp completed the game with seven innings of work.  She allowed three earned runs on 12 hits.

Jordyn Wieland and Beth Mersinger each had two hits, and Becca Oldham drove in three runs.

Game two went to Greenville after they tied the game in the second inning and received back-to-back homers from Oldham and Kate Jolliff Rosado in the third innings.

Mackenzie Jackson came in to pitch in relief and went 6.1 innings to gain the win.  She only allowed two runs and struck out four.

The Panthers (7-12, 5-2 SLIAC) travel to Fontbonne for a doubleheader on Wednesday.
