Softball tops Iowa Wesleyan in doubleheader

GREENVILLE, Ill. — The softball team extended their winning streak to four games with 8-0 and 7-3 wins over Iowa Wesleyan. Between games, the softball program honored seniors Becca Oldham, Nicole Geissberger, Jordyn Wieland, Kate Jolliff Rosado, Emi Hug, Josie Koontz, and Elizabeth Hawkins.

Greenville got the mercy-rule shortened win in game one when they led by eight after the fifth inning.

Three Panthers recorded two hit games - Oldham, Rosado, and Beth Mersinger.

Rosado, Mersinger, and Kendall Farr produced home runs.

Maegan Stone earned the shutout in the circle. She went all five innings and only permitted four hits and two walks. She struck out five.

Game two required a come-from-behind effort after Iowa Wesleyan scored three times in the first inning.

Greenville's bats came alive in the fourth inning with two runs. They added three in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Wieland and Rosado had two hits, and Oldham delivered a home run.

Farr pitched all seven innings in her first win of the season. She struck out four.

The Panthers (12-15, 10-3 SLIAC) travel to Blackburn for a doubleheader on Saturday.
