Softball finishes 6-2 in Myrtle Beach

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The softball team concluded their Spring Break trip to South Carolina with a pair of wins on Friday.  Greenville topped Lycoming 4-3 in their first game of the day and concluded their week with a 14-6 win over Lancaster Bible to finish 6-2 on the week.

Lycoming took an early lead against Greenville, jumping ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

Greenville got the run back in the top of the third with an RBI double from Kayla Zimmerman.

Lycoming eventually opened up a two run lead with single runs in the third and fourth innings.  In the top of the fifth, Beth Mersinger came up with a two-run homer to tie the game.

Mersinger later delivered the game-winning RBI in the top of the seventh with a single.

Kendall Farr started the game in the circle for Greenville and went 5.1 innings, allowing three runs, one earned.  Cayla Speaks closed the game, capturing the win to improve to 2-1.  She pitched 1.2 scoreless innings.

Mersinger ended the game 3-for-4 with three RBI.  Zimmerman went 3-for-3.

Game two was dominated by Greenville in their 14-6 win over Lancaster Bible.

The Panthers established a 9-0 lead after two innings and carried the momentum.

Lancaster Bible added three runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Greenville stepped up with four runs in the top of the sixth to go in front 13-3.

The Chargers kept the game going with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, and Greenville added one in the seventh.

Megan Barrett and Alyssa Delgado each posted three hits for Greenville.

Holzhauer was 2-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBI, and Farr had three RBI.

Speaks earned the pitching win with two innings in which she allowed three runs.

Caitie Opp ended the game with two scoreless innings.

The Panthers (6-2) host Millikin on Thursday at 2 p.m in a doubleheader at Lady Panther Field.
