GREENVILLE, Ill. - The softball recorded two more SLIAC wins on Monday in a doubleheader against MacMurray. Greenville won both games by the mercy rule, 8-0 in five innings of game one and 11-3 in five innings of game two.
In the first game, Greenville scored in all but one of its innings at bat in cruising to a win in 49 minutes. The Panthers posted three runs in the first inning, two in the second, and three in the third.
Beth Mersinger put Greenville on the scoreboard in game one with a two-run first inning single. Kendall Farr later delivered an RBI single.
In the second inning, Maegan Stone doubled to right center to drive in two.
Deidra Holzhauer produced a two-run triple in the fourth inning, and Mersinger had a single to third base that sent Holzhauer home.
Stone and Farr combined to shut out MacMurray on three hits. Stone worked four innings in the circle while striking out a pair to improve to 6-0. Farr had a strikeout in her inning of work.
Leadoff batter Kayla Zimmerman set the table for the Panthers with three hits and three runs.
In game two, the Panthers scored a run in the first and five runs in the third and another five in the fifth inning to end the game early.
Greenville took a 1-0 lead in the first when Zimmerman scored on a passed ball.
MacMurray reached Greenville starting pitcher Farr for three runs in the second frame.
In the third inning, Olivia Shipman delivered an RBI groundout for the first run. Karissa Woody drew a bases loaded walk for an RBI, and Farr eventually scored on a passed ball.
Katie Myers provided an RBI groundout, and Zimmerman singled to the shortstop to created a 6-3 lead.
Stone gave GU a two-run single in the bottom of fifth to make it an 8-3 game, and Holzhauer slammed an RBI double to left center field.
Cayla Speaks ended the game with a two-run double.
Farr pitched the first two innings and allowed all three runs on three hits and two walks. Holzhauer earned the win with three innings of relief, permitting five hits and striking out one.
Mersinger ended a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Zimmerman and Holzhauer also tacked on two hits.
The Panthers (15-5, 9-1 SLIAC) host Blackburn on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in a doubleheader.
