Women's basketball runs away from Blackburn in dominating win

CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team outscored Blackburn by more than 10 points in each of the first three quarters as they captured an 83-36 victory on Wednesday night.  Taylor Paulin was the only player to reach double digit scoring for Greenville as she had a game-high 15 points.

The Lady Panthers held a 47-21 lead at the half, and then limited Blackburn to four points in the third quarter as they added another 21 points.

Laura Goodnight provided Greenville with nine points, and Claire Schmitt had five assists.

Meredith Crosier contributed four steals.

Greenville made 32-of-65 shots from the floor as they shot at a 49 percent rate.  They were close to flawless from the free throw line by making 11-of-13 charity attempts.

The Lady Panthers (10-6, 5-3 SLIAC) pulled into a second place tie in the SLIAC standings with three other teams as they hit the midpoint of the conference schedule.  Greenville returns home on Saturday to play a fellow second place Webster squad at 1 p.m.
