Women's basketball honors seniors and runs away from Blackburn

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team took time before the game to honor its two seniors - Claire Schmitt and Taylor Paulin - and then eased to a 90-37 win over Blackburn in its final tuneup before conference tournament play.

Schmitt and Paulin combined for nearly one-third of Greenville's points as they displayed a chemistry built from four seasons as teammates.

Schmitt gave Greenville a game-high 17 points, five assists, and four steals in only 20 minutes of play.

Paulin produced 12 points and four steals.

Meredith Crosier came off the bench for a 13 point outing, and Morgan St. James provided 10 points and seven rebounds.

Greenville led 28-3 after one quarter and 43-9 at halftime.  They extended the lead to 67-22 after three periods.

The Lady Panthers (17-8, 12-4 SLIAC) finished in second place in the SLIAC standings.  They play Webster at 6 p.m. on Thursday night at Eureka.
