Women's basketball advances to SLIAC tournament title game

EUREKA, Ill. -- The women's basketball team is headed back to the SLIAC tournament championship game as they were a 61-52 winner over Webster in the semifinals of the conference tourney.

Laura Goodnight got on track with an 18 point outing as she led all scorers.  Goodnight also picked up six rebounds and blocked four shots.

Morgan St. James had an eight point, 10 rebound night.

Senior guards Claire Schmitt and Taylor Paulin provided passes that led to baskets all night as Schmitt tallied five assists, and Paulin added four assists.

The Lady Panthers led 14-9 after one period and held a four point 30-26 lead at halftime.  Webster's only lead came in the first quarter by one point.

Greenville kept the advantage after the third quarter as they led 47-41.

The Lady Panthers (18-8) will face Eureka in the SLIAC championship game on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a return trip to the NCAA national tournament on the line.
