GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team only had to endure a short stay in second place in the conference standings as they won 64-58 over Spalding on Monday night to rise back up to a first place tie with Eureka.

Greenville controlled the first and fourth quarters and managed to hold Spalding to a meager two points over the final eight minutes of the game.

The Panthers led 24-20 after one quarter, and the score was 36-all at halftime.

Spalding earned a seven point lead by the end of the third quarter after outscoring Greenville 17-10 in the third stanza.

Greenville roared right back, closing out the game with an 18-5 final quarter.

Wesley Woodard and Laura Goodnight nearly gave the Panthers half of their points as the duo combined for 32 points in the contest.  Woodard dropped 19 points on the scoreboard, and Goodnight finished with 13.

Goodnight was the leader in the rebounding department and finished with six.

Jantzen Michael gave Spalding fits as the Panthers top defender with four steals.

The Panthers (13-4, 8-1 SLIAC) travel to Westminster on Wednesday night for a game at 6 p.m.
