Women's basketball comes back for OT win at Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The women's basketball team defeated Fontbonne on Wednesday night in overtime, taking a 75-67 win on the road.

Fontbonne captured the early edge in the game and held the lead for the entirety of the first half.  The Panthers trailed 23-17 after the first quarter and 32-28 at halftime.

Greenville came alive in the third quarter, eventually tying the score at 45-all on a three-pointer by Jantzen Michael with 2:26 remaining in the third period and taking the lead on a jumper by Wesley Woodard 37 seconds later.  The third quarter ended with the game tied at 50-all.

The fourth quarter saw Fontbonne take a four point lead, but Greenville forced the game to overtime when Morgan St. James managed to sink a pair of shots.  St. James tied the game at 62-all with 52 seconds left in the game.  Greenville had the ball for the last shot but was unable to attempt a shot.

GU never trailed in the overtime period as they outscored FU 13-5.

Greenville's leading scorer in the game was Michael with 19 points.  St. James produced her second straight double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Woodard added 15 points.

The Panthers (9-3, 4-0 SLIAC) host Spalding on Saturday at 1 p.m.
