Women's basketball wins 69-53 over Blackburn

CARLINVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team gained a 69-53 win over Blackburn on Saturday.  The win allowed Greenville to extend their undefeated start to the season to nine games.

After topping Blackburn by 38 points at home earlier in the season, the game stayed within 10 points until late in the second quarter.  Greenville was up 17-16 after the first quarter, and Greenville had a 33-24 advantage at halftime.

The third quarter ended with a 48-39 lead for the Panthers, and the Panthers put the game out of reach with a 21-14 fourth quarter.

Wesley Woodard was GU's leading scorer with 11 points in the game.

Haven Robertson put nine points on the scoreboard, and Morgan St. James added eight.

Greenville's top rebounder was Ellaina Davis with eight.

The Panthers (14-3, 9-0 SLIAC) host Principia on Monday at 6 p.m. in a game that was rescheduled from January 22.
