LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The women's basketball team remained undefeated in the early season with 73-57 win against Brevard in their first game of the Covenant tournament.
GU raced out to a 19-12 lead after the first quarter, but Brevard managed to tie the score 32-32 at halftime.
A 21-9 advantage in the third quarter pushed Greenville's edge to 53-41, and the Panthers added four points to their lead with a 20-16 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Madelyn Stephen led the Panthers in scoring with 19 points, making 8-of-13 shots from the floor, including 2-of-3 three-pointers.
Savana Powell-Goodman earned the start and had 13 points, knocking down 9-of-11 free throws.
Abigail Reinneck reached double figures with 11 points.
Greenville received a team-high seven rebounds from Stephen and Sophia Cisneros. Stephen also had four assists.
GU's defense was led by Reinneck and Powell-Goodman with four steals each.
The Panthers (2-0) will play Covenant on Saturday to conclude their trip.
