Women's gymnastics topped by Illinois State in opening home meet

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's gymnastics team hosted their first home meet at the Farm Heritage Museum and lost 194.625-178.475 to Illinois State on Saturday evening.

The Panthers obtained their highest event score in the vault with a team total of 46.600. Greenville posted a score of 45.000 on the balance beam.

The uneven bars resulted in a score of 43.875 for GU, and their floor total was 43.000.

Greenville all-around entry Amara Nelson was third of the all-arounds with a score of 36.625.

Nelson was GU's top performer in the vault with a score of 9.700 which tied for fourth.

Sidnei Heubach managed a sixth place showing of 9.425 in the uneven bars.

In the balance beam, Greenville received a score of 9.225 from Madison Ford which was good for sixth.

Ellery Gilmer provided a score of 9.350 in the floor for sixth place as well.

The Panthers will return to action at the Farm Heritage Museum next Saturday against Simpson at 6:30 p.m.
