Women's soccer collects a 3-1 win against Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The women's soccer team traveled to Illinois College and returned with a 3-1 win.

Greenville used some defensive confusion to take the lead in the first minute of the second half. Suzi Conner was the lucky recipient of a clear look from close range, getting the ball low past the goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead. In the 52nd minute, a corner kick was headed down by Megan Taylor for a goal to make it 2-0.

Illinois College used a free kick for goal in the 65th minute.

In the 83rd minute, Breanna Thomas scored her third goal of the year to make it 3-1 and put the game out of reach.

Goalkeeper Sam Barhart replaced Marjory Coates in the 29th minute when Coates went out with a red card.  Greenville played a player down for the rest of the match.

Barhart collected four saves and permitted one goal in just over 61 minutes.  She improved to 3-0 on her career with a goals against average of 0.37.

Dani Pearce assisted on the first two goals, and Jade Taylor provided the assist on the third goal.

The teams matched up evenly with 14 shots for each squad.  Pearce led the Panthers with five shots, and Taylor totaled three shots.

The Panthers (3-4) travel to Rockford for a match on Friday.
