Women's soccer records second shutout of young season

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's soccer team received first half goals from Molly McDonnell and Courtney Lawrence, and Marjory Coates delivered a 15-save shutout in Greenville's 2-0 win over Concordia Chicago on Monday.

Greenville opened the scoring in the match's 14th minute on McDonnell's third goal of the season as Dani Pearce added an assist.

In the 41st minute, Lawrence gave Greenville an insurance goal when she banked the ball off the right post past Concordia's goalkeeper for her first goal of the year.  Ellie Cummins provided Lawrence with the assist.

Pearce pestered Concordia with four shots, including three on goal.  Kat Stroot added three shots.

Greenville's defense managed to hold Concordia without a goal as they held off 22 shots, including 15 on goal.

The Panthers (2-1) travel to Belhaven on Friday in the first of two games in Mississippi.
