Women's soccer stays undefeated in SLIAC play with win at MacMurray

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team maintained their undefeated SLIAC record with a 2-1 win over MacMurray on Saturday.

The Panthers opened the scoring with a goal from Jen De Leon De Leon in the 13th minute and carried the 1-0 lead to halftime.

In the 51st minute, MacMurray evened the match at 1-1 with a goal, but less than one minute later, the Panthers received an own goal from MacMurray that held up to give GU the 2-1 win.

The Panthers controlled the offensive attack, holding a 19-5 advantage over MacMurray in shots.

Kate Arthur, Brooklyn Haro, De Leon De Leon, and Jordan Wilson all had three shots for Greenville.

Goalkeeper Marjory Coates faced a pair of shots on goal, allowing one goal and recording one save.

The win allowed Greenville to reach .500 with an overall record of 5-5-2 (2-0-1 SLIAC), and they are one of just two undefeated teams at the one-third mark of the conference season. The team travels to Principia for a match on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
