O'FALLON, Ill. -- The women's tennis team opened their season with a 6-3 loss to St. Louis Pharmacy in a match at St. Clair Tennis Center.  Breanna Thomas won her first match for Greenville College.

The Greenville squad fielded a lineup at all nine positions, but they could only face seven entries from St. Louis Pharmacy.  As a result, Greenville gained two forfeit wins at number six singles and number three doubles.

Competing for the first time as a Lady Panther tennis player, Thomas defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-3.

Maddi Walsh and Courtney Blaser teamed up in No. 2 doubles and were defeated 8-5 in a positive showing for their team.

The Lady Panthers (0-1) will next compete over Spring Break in Hilton Head, S.C.
