Women's tennis looks toward a bright future

GREENVILLE, Ill. - This is an exciting time for GU Women's tennis! The Lady Panthers return a strong core from the 2018 squad that was made up entirely of underclassmen. Armed with experience, and even more determination, they are eager for the spring season to get underway!

The 2018 team posted a season record of 9-8, following a 5-11 mark in 2017. Included were three victories over arch rival Principia!

The Panthers finished strong as they pushed Westminster in a close match at the semifinals of the SLIAC conference tournament.

The Panthers also succeeded in the classroom, by posting a team GPA of 3.69!

Captain Courtney Blaser stated "Last year was a huge success! For us to finish above .500 with a team consisting of all underclassmen was pretty amazing. Our goal this year though is to take it a step further. We want to compete for a conference championship! And with the character and makeup of this team, I know we will give it everything we have!"

Team members are as follows: Emma Wieland, Bailey Pearce, Courtney Blaser, Claudia Principal, Annie Bellinger, Samantha Siefken, and Maddi Walsh.

The team wrapped up a 3 match fall schedule with two 9-0 victories over Knox College, and Dominican University.
