Women's tennis manages day two split in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The women's tennis team finished with a pair of 7-2 team decisions on Tuesday, winning one against Messiah and losing one against LeTourneau.

The Panthers competed against LeTourneau in their first match of the day.

The No. 2 doubles team of Addison Brannon and Lanie Carder delivered a dominating 8-1 win.

The Panthers went to a third set tiebreaker in three of the six singles matches, but only No. 1 Irlanda Oliver posted a win. Oliver finished with a 2-6, 6-4, 13-11 victory.

The Panthers concluded the day on a high note with the team win over Messiah.

GU won two of the three doubles matches with the No. 1 team of Oliver and Callie Adkins providing an 8-2 win and the No. 3 pairing of Emily Buratovich Maltbie and Evie Johnson capturing an 8-6 win.

In singles, No. 1 Oliver, No. 2 Brannon, No. 3 Carder, No. 5 Maltbie, and No. 6 Natalia Higashi provided straight set wins.

Carder double bageled her opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

The Panthers (6-3) will conclude their trip with a match against Gettysburg on Thursday.
