Women's track and field finishes fifth at NCCAA national championships

HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The women's track and field team earned the fifth place position at the NCCAA national championships.  The women were benefited by the national championships of Chelsea Gilles and Sierah Ruffner.

Gilles won her national championship in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.16 seconds.

Ruffner collected her title in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.62 meters (5 feet, 3.75 inches).

Rachel Hanna was third in the pole vault with a height of 2.92 meters (9-7), and Gilles took third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.29 seconds.

The women return to action next weekend at Principia in the SLIAC invitational.
