Women's track and field concludes season at North Central; Kruse establishes 10k record

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The women's track and field team concluded their 2018 outdoor season with three women competing in an NCAA qualifying meet at North Central. Greenville sent Marideth Tate, Lia Kruse, and Megan McKee to participate.

Tate had Greenville's top placement at the event with a fifth place mark in the hammer throw. She established a personal record with a distance of 47.43 meters (155 feet-7 inches) on her first throw of the preliminaries to give her a spot in the finals.

Kruse broke a 2010 record in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 39:19.09 to achieve sixth place. Shanna Uphold's time of 39:50.48 in 2010 was previously the best mark. McKee also participated in the 10,000 but did not finish.

The Panthers completed the season with Tate providing the 59th ranked mark in the hammer throw and Rachel Hanna achieving the 84th position in the pole vault.
