Women's track and field captures seven event titles, team win at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The women's indoor track and field team earned 127 points, defeating Illinois College and six other schools including conference rivals Webster, Principia, and Fontbonne, in a team victory on Saturday.

Taylor Tucker gave GU a win in the 55 meter dash, posting a time of 7.54 seconds.

Sara Yakana won the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.48 seconds, bettering her seed time by 79 hundredths of a second.

Cayden Sharp had a win in the 55 meter hurdles, completing the race in 8.85 seconds. She also won the long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters and the triple jump with a mark of 11.13 meters.

Tawny Rodriguez was the top performer in the shot put competition, collecting a distance of 12.03 meters.

Kiko Boscolo was second in the 55, clocking a time of 7.70 seconds.

Yakana was second in the triple jump, posting a distance of 10.00 meters.

The Panthers 4x400 meter relay team included Gretchen Carie, Alyssa Comer, Vanessa Compton, and Payten Gabbert, and they were second in their relay race with a time of 4:41.15.

Next weekend, the Panthers will send qualifying members of the team to the NCCAA national championships at Cedarville.
