Women's volleyball gains two more wins

ELMHURST, Ill. -- The women's volleyball team won two more matches at their season opening Elmhurst tournament on Saturday. Greenville defeated Benedictine in five games in the first match of the day before defeating New Paltz St. in five games in the day's second match.

Greenville jumped out to an early advantage with a 25-17 first game win in their match against Benedictine. The Lady Panthers dropped the next two sets 25-22 and 25-23 before dominating Benedictine in the final two sets. Greenville won the fourth set 25-12 before wrapping up the match with a 15-7 win in the final set.

Allyson Mitchell produced 19 kills against Benedictine, and Allyson Grabowski had 23 digs.  Mitchell contributed five service aces, and Grabowski added four aces.

Brittni Bell and Savannah Sells each tallied five block assists.

Greenville fell behind two games to none in the second match of the day before rattling off 25-17, 25-22, and 15-10 game wins to take the match.

Mitchell dominated the match offensively with 27 kills and six service aces.

Kirsten Laune and Grabowski each added 16 digs.

The Lady Panthers (3-1) travel to St. Mary-of-the-Woods for a match on Tuesday night.
