Women's volleyball captures two wins in Iowa

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa -- The women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to three matches with pair of wins on Saturday at Iowa Wesleyan.  The Panthers took a 25-12, 25-11, 17-25, 25-13 victory over Iowa Wesleyan and then capped the day with a 25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 22-25, 22-20 triumph over Monmouth.

The Panthers were backed by Anna Finch and her 14 kills in the win against Iowa Wesleyan.  Finch produced 16 points as she added a service ace and two block assists.

Allyson Mitchell was the top point producer with 17.5 points on 13 kills, four service aces, and a block assist.

Abby Quirin gave the Panthers 23 assists, and Allyson Grabowski was effective defensively with 16 digs.

Greenville got 19 kills from Mitchell in their five set thriller against Monmouth.  She posted 27 points and added five service aces, two solo blocks, and two block assists.  She also led Greenville's defense with 21 digs.

Quirin again paced Greenville in assists with a season-high 28.  She also had a season-high 13 digs.

The Panthers had to stave off four match points from Monmouth after leading 14-9 in the fifth set and having five match points thwarted by their own errors and Monmouth attacks.

The Panthers (11-3, 6-2 SLIAC) will travel to St. Louis to face Webster on Thursday at 7 p.m.
