Women's volleyball splits matches at Eureka

EUREKA, Ill. -- The volleyball team had a disappointing afternoon at Eureka as they lost a five-set match to Principia before storming back for a three-set defeat of Eureka on Saturday.

Anna Fitch posted 20 kills and zero errors in the opening five-setter.  Greenville opened the match with a 25-19 first set win.  Principia evened the match at 1-1, and Greenville came up with a 25-16 win in the third set before Principia forced a deciding fifth set.  Principia took the final set 15-9.

Allyson Grabowski piled up 27 digs to led the defense.  Finch posted two solo blocks and three block assists.

In the day's second match, Greenville blasted Eureka 25-14, 25-15, 26-24 to come home with a victory.

Allyson Mitchell provided 21 kills against the Red Devils.

Grabowski was the leader with 12 digs, and Abby Quirin gave the Panthers 30 assists.

The Panthers (13-4, 7-3 SLIAC) host Spalding on Thursday at 7 p.m. in H.J. Long Gymnasium.
