Women's volleyball takes Homecoming match

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- A festive Homecoming Friday evening resulted in a four-set win for the women's volleyball team as they competed against Fontbonne.  Greenville ended on top with a final score of 25-17, 22-25, 25-11, 25-17.

Allyson Mitchell was one of six seniors honored between the second and third sets, and she was Greenville's leader with 17 points on 15 kills and two service aces.  Senior teammate Brittni Bell came up with 10 kills and a solo block.

Anna Fitch produced an efficient hitting percentage of .545 with 14 kills and two errors in 22 attacks.  She also had two assisted blocks.

Allyson Grabowski answered the bell on defense all night with 28 digs, tying her previous season high, but in two less sets.

The team also honored senoirs Kaytlynn Roberts, Lauren Witte, Felicity Giddings, and Sarah Watts.  In addition, the team presented head coach Tom Ackerman with a plaque commemorating his 300th coaching win.

The Panthers (19-4, 14-3 SLIAC) host a tri-match on Tuesday with Knox and St. Mary-of-the-Woods.  Greenville plays Knox at 3 p.m. and St. Mary-of-the-Woods at 7 p.m.
