Women's volleyball tripped up in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The women's volleyball team began their pursuit of a fourth straight NCAA appearance with matches at Illinois College's tournament on Friday.

The Panthers lost the first match to Culver-Stockton in three sets before falling in four sets to Knox.

Returning sophomore Abby Freeman posted double-digit kill efforts in both matches with 10 against C-S and 18 in the Knox match.

The Panthers couldn't seem to get on track against Culver-Stockton with a .080 hitting percentage.

Allyson Grabowski was a force on defense with 42 digs combined in the two matches.  She had 17 against C-S before 25 in the Knox match-up.

Attacking errors gave Knox the momentum in the second match when Greenville produced 31 errors dispite holding the lead in kills by a 49-to-34 margin.

The Panthers (0-2) play Anderson and Grinnell on Saturday in Jacksonville at Illinois College.
