Women's volleyball splits final matches at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team got back on track on Saturday with a four set win over Anderson before Grinnell gave Greenville a three set loss in their concluding match of the Illinois College tournament.

Sophomore Anna Finch picked up all-tournament honors for Greenville after recording 28 kills and 14 blocks in four matches.

In Saturday's opening match, Greenville dropped the first set before taking the next three sets in the 3-1 win.

The Panthers only had 38 kills in the match against Anderson, but their blocking resulted in seven solo blocks and 16 block assists.

Finch recorded eight kills, four solo blocks, and six block assists.

Allyson Grabowski led the way among defensive specialists with 16 digs.  Emily Penfold added 14 digs.

In match two, Grinnell swept Greenville 3-0 as the Panthers ran out of steam.

Finch totaled another eight kills and Grabowski 16 digs.

The difference was evident at the net with the Panthers limited to two solo blocks and four block assists.

Grinnell piled up a .326 hitting percentage.

The Panthers (1-3) travel to Principia on Tuesday for a SLIAC match at 7 p.m.
