Women's volleyball drops five-set match to Principia

ELSAH, Ill. -- The women's volleyball team dropped a five-set thriller to Principia on Tuesday in their first SLIAC match of the season.

Greenville dropped the first two sets 25-11 and 25-20 before knotting the match at 2-all with 25-20 and 27-25 wins in the third and fourth sets.  Principia ultimately received a 15-9 victory in the fifth set.

Anna Finch and Abby Freeman provided the majority of Greenville's offense as each had 15 kills.  The Panthers held a 50-to-45 advantage over Principia in kills, but they hurt themselves with 42 attack errors.

Allyson Grabowski posted a career-high 35 digs as she paced the Panther defense.

Abby Quirin collected 40 assists and 22 digs to aid GU's effort.

Finch provided two solo blocks and five block assists.

The Panthers (1-4, 0-1 SLIAC) host a five team event on Saturday in Greenville at H.J. Long Gymnasium and the Crum Recreation Center.
