Women's volleyball splits day one matches in Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. - The women's volleyball team defeated Benedictine on Friday night after a loss to Defiance to split day one of the North Park tournament.

Greenville was victimized by a low hitting percentage in their first match, and they finished with a rate of .064.

Abby Freeman paced Greenville's offensive play with a match-high 19 kills against DU.  Freeman also added six service aces.

Allyson Grabowski gave Defiance fits as she managed to collect 38 digs in four sets.

The Panthers received 10 block assists in the match, led by Emily Stahl with three.

In the second match, Greenville won in straight sets over Benedictine 25-23, 25-17, 25-21.

Freeman hit over .375 in the second match with 14 kills and three errors in 29 attempts.

Freeman added another three service aces.

Anna Finch contributed 10 points with seven kills, two solo blocks, and two block assists.

Grabowski and Payten Morris each recorded 10 digs.

The Panthers (8-6) play Central (Iowa) and North Park on Saturday.
