Women's volleyball even on day two in Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. - The women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at North Park on Saturday.  They fell to Central (Iowa) in four sets in the opening match before grinding out a five set win over North Park in the final match of the afternoon.

The Panthers lost to Central by a 25-20, 25-27, 25-23, 25-8 final score in a match that was up for grabs until the final set.

Abby Freeman produced 22.5 points in the match with 17 kills, four service aces, a solo block, and a block assist.

Anna Fitch added nine points with seven kills, a solo block, and two block assists.

Their defensive efforts were led by Allyson Grabowski with 17 digs. 

In the second match of the day, the Panthers received a record-setting performance from Freeman who reached 31 kills in 78 attempts while only producing five errors.  Freeman totaled one solo block, two block assists, and six service aces.

Greenville came out on top with set scores of 22-25, 27-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-12

Finch was also effective at the net with 11 kills on offense and three block assists.

Grabowski had 24 digs, and Whitney Nichols added 17 digs.

The Panthers (9-7) host Principia on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
