Women's volleyball sweeps matches at Webster

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The women's volleyball team moved into the top position in the SLIAC standings where they sit alone with a pair of wins on Saturday at Webster.  Greenville defeated Blackburn in four sets to open the day, and they closed the afternoon with a three-set win over MacMurray.

The day started shaky for Greenville as they dropped the first set to Blackburn 25-18 before running off 25-19, 25-12, 25-18 victories in the final three sets to record the win.

Abby Freeman nearly collected half of Greenville's 48 kills against the Beavers with 23.  She also added two service aces and two block assists to total 26 points.

Anna Finch provided 12 points for the Panthers with nine kills, a service ace, a solo block, and two block assists.

Allyson Grabowski was busy in the backcourt for GU with 24 digs, and she also collected four service aces.

Match two went Greenville's way from the outset as they rolled to a 25-20, 25-12, 25-16 win.

Freeman and Brooklyn Pace hit double figures for Greenville in kills as Freeman put down 13 and Pace added 10.

Freeman's serve resulted in four services aces.

Grabowski reached the double-figure mark in digs with 19, followed by Abby Quirin with 14.

Finch tallied two solo blocks and one block assist.

The Panthers (14-8, 10-1 SLIAC) host Webster on Wednesday night in Greenville at 7 p.m.
