Women's volleyball falls to Webster in SLIAC game of the week

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team came up short against Webster in three sets at H.J. Long Gymnasium on Wednesday night in the SLIAC game of the week.  The Panthers lost 25-20, 25-18, 26-24 as Webster pulled even with GU in the conference standings.

Greenville failed to get on track on the attack as they committed 23 errors in the match giving Webster nearly one-third of their points.

Abby Freeman led GU with 14 kills, two service aces, and a block assist to contribute 16 1/2 points to the Panther effort.

Allyson Grabowski was kept busy on defense with 22 digs, and Emily Stahl added nine kills and three block assists.

Greenville was on the brink of forcing Webster to a fourth set as they had three set points after Anna Finch's service ace made the score 24-21 in the third set.  The Gorloks rattled off five straight points for the win.

The Panthers (14-9, 10-2 SLIAC) return to action at home on Saturday against Westminster and St. Mary-of-the-Woods in a tri-match.
