Women's volleyball completes Millikin tournament

DECATUR, Ill. - The women's volleyball team concluded the Millikin tournament with a 3-1 slate after a split against Illinois College and Millikin on Saturday. The Panthers opened Saturday play with a five set win over Illinois College, followed by a four set loss to Millikin.

The Panthers featured a balanced attack against IC with five players earning between 11 and 13 points in GU's 16-25, 25-16, 28-26, 21-25, 15-13 win.

Jasmin Smith paced Greenville with 13 kills, but her hitting percentage landed at .154 after seven errors.

Anna Finch reached 10 kills and chipped in two solo blocks and a block assist for 12.5 points.

Sacorra Patton and Abby Freeman each had 11 kills, and Patton led the Panthers with 17 digs. Emily Stahl totaled 10 kills.

Kaitin Murray kept the attack running with 31 set assists.

In the Panthers second match of the day, Greenville lost 25-21, 26-24, 19-25, 25-22 to a winning Millikin side.

Freeman tried to keep Greenville pressing forward with 17 kills in the match. Finch also hit the mark of 10 kills. Both Freeman and Finch added three solo blocks. Finch provided two block assists, and Freeman had one block assist.

Murray and Jordan Lempa more closely split setting duties in the match against Millikin. Murray ended with 23, and Lempa had 18.

In the back row, both Smith and Chasity Hill had 12 digs.

The Panthers (5-6) begin SLIAC competition on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when they go to Webster.
