Women's cross country places second at SLIAC championships

LITCHFIELD, Ill. - The women's cross country team ran to a second place finish at the SLIAC championships on Saturday.

Shirley Estes paced Greenville's field of nine runners with a eighth place time of 24:08 on the six kilometer course.

GU's Hannah Williams placed 11th overall with a time of 24:41, and Sopha Allen was third at 24:55.

Greenville's scoring was rounded out by Emma Leohnard who was 14th in 25:00, and Sabrina Favela clocked a time of 25:46 to finish 18th.

After the meet, Estes, Williams, Allen, and Leohnard were recognized as members of the SLIAC second team, and Estes picked up a second honor as Greenville's entry on the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship team.

The Panthers will compete in their Panther Trials on Friday, Nov. 2, and the team will send its top seven runners to the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday, Nov. 10.
