B.J. Fink joins coaching staff as head esports coach

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Greenville University athletic department has announced the hiring of B.J. Fink as the first head coach of its new esports program.

Fink, who has served as esports coordinator since 2018, provides six years of experience in higher education to his new post. An avid PC gamer, Fink also brings familiarity with Overwatch, League of Legends, Apex Legends, Fortnite, Rocket League, and Starcraft II to the position.

After receiving a bachelor of science degree in history and political science from Greenville, he served one year as a severvice desk specialist at IT Associates before entering a position as adjunct professor and head women's soccer coach at Ecclesia College in Springdale, Ark. He spent three years at Ecclesia.

Fink returned to Greenville in 2017 as senior admissions counselor where he recruited traditional undergraduate students to attend Greenville University.

His experiences in information technology, college recruitment, and customer service will assist him in the new role.

"I am passionate about Greenville's mission as a university, and I see esports as the next innovative program that will help the university thrive," said Fink. "I hope to establish Greenville University as a premier esports program with the formation of a flexible three-tiered structure that allows for competition, creation, and commmunity."

Fink will complete a master of arts in Biblical archaeology at Trinity Southwest University this June.

He and his wife Kat reside in Greenville and are expecting their first child this summer.
