Football rushes for 273 yards but falls to St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. - The football team traveled to St. Scholastica where they fell 47-13 to the Saints in a game on Saturday night.

CSS jumped out to a 27-0 advantage before the Panthers could put their first points on the scoreboard in the second quarter. Greenville made it 27-7 going into halftime after a 38 yard rushing touchdown from Courtney Mitchell came with 2:48 to go in the first half.

The Saints extended their lead to 47-7 in the fourth quarter, but Greenville scored the last points of the game with 2:41 remaining when Seth Logan caught a three yard touchdown pass from Zecheriah Castellon.

Courtney Mitchell was the top offensive producer for GU with 161 rushing yards on 27 carries. He led a Panther run game that totaled 273 yards on 63 attempts.

Greenville's rushing attack helped GU win the possession battle with the Saints as Greenville held the ball for over 34 minutes of the game.

Quarterback Dalton Mitchell had a difficult time getting on track as he completed 7-of-21 passes for 43 yards. He eventually yielded way to Castellon and George Harris.

Gregoire Franchomme caught six passes for 47 yards.

Ransom Cochrane provided 10 tackles to lead Greenville's defense. He also had an interception.

Bryson Johnson added seven tackles with one and a half for a loss of yards.

Lakari Benjamin posted an interception.

The Panthers (1-5, 1-4 UMAC) host Crown on Saturday, Oct. 20, in their Homecoming game at Noon.
