MORRIS, Minn. - The football team concluded their 2018 season with a 20-13 loss to Minnesota-Morris on the road Saturday.

Greenville took the early lead, scoring on their first possession of the game.  The Panthers capped a nine-play, 60 yard opening drive with a two yard touchdown run from Christian Moss and an extra point by Rafael Branquinho Soares de Castro to gain the early 7-0 advantage.

On Greenville's ensuing kickoff, they recovered a fumble and held the ball once again.  Unfortunately, an interception by Dalton Mitchell gave Morris the ball, and they ended up scoring a touchdown with the PAT to tie things at 7-all.

Neither team could put points on the scoreboard for the remainder of the half, and the game went to halftime in a 7-7 tie.

In the third quarter, the Cougars received the opening kickoff and started at their 25-yard line after a touchback by Bradley Stubbs.  On their first play from scrimmage in the second half, Morris posted a 75-yard touchdown run along with a PAT for the 14-7 lead.

Before the quarter ended, Morris put another touchdown and extra point on the scoreboard to take a 21-7 lead with 4:49 remaining in the third quarter.

On Greenville's next posession, they took the ball 70 yards in four plays, culminating with a 59 yard rushing touchdown from Eric Kranh with 3:12 to go in the third. The Panthers did not convert the two-point attempt, and neither team could score for the rest of the game.

Greenville got as close as the UMM08 with a little over nine minutes remaining in the game, but a quarterback sack on 4th-and-goal from the UMM08 gave the Cougars the ball.

Minnesota Morris took the next possession and went as far as the GU20 before turning it over on downs, and the football never returned to the Cougars end of the playing field.

Kranh ended with 105 rushing yards on 11 carries, and Moss added 21 rushing attempts for 48 yards.

Mitchell went 18-of-31 for 140 yards passing and also carried the ball 11 times for 42 yards.

Gregoire Franchomme caught eight passes for 55 yards.

Defensively, Gavin Jordan paced GU with six tackles and forced a fumble.

The Panthers (3-7, 3-5 UMAC) finished in a three-way tie with Westminster and Minnesota Morris for fifth place in the final UMAC standings.
