BULL SHOALS, Ark. – The Greenville University fishing team was able to place 48th and 163rd in a field of 199 teams at the Bassmaster College Tour stop on Bull Shoals Lake.

The lake set up perfectly for an outstanding tournament, as warm water temperatures and great water clarity had the fish hungry and ready to spawn.

The clarity of the water presented a special challenge, as the lakebed was visible at depths up to 15 feet.

The team of Adam Cook and Cale Jausel were able to put together a solid pattern in practice that nearly held up throughout the event. Cook spent many days on clear water lakes such as Lake of the Ozarks and Table Rock during his high school fishing career. He was able to rely on this knowledge in part at the Bull Shoals event.

On day one, Cook and Jausel weighed a respectable limit at 14 lbs. and 4 oz. While their weight would have had them within the top 25 in most events, due to the outstanding fishing conditions, they settled in 52nd once the day one weigh in had concluded. Their goal for tomorrow was to weigh a similar or even slightly heavier bag in hopes of securing a 20th or better finish, which would qualify them for the National Championship. Unfortunately conditions proved tougher for the pair, whose weight fell to 12 lbs. 11 oz. on day two. Their two day total of 26 lbs. 15 oz. was just over a pound shy of 20th and cemented their 48th place finish.

The team of Ricky Huge and Cordell Beckmann was able to locate some fish in practice, but changing weather conditions caused them to struggle. Huge and Beckmann were able to bring four fish to the scales each day, for a two day total of 16 lbs. 15 oz.

Thanks to the 48th place finish, the team jumped to 25th place in the national standings!

The national school of the year standings includes 262 schools with fishing teams all across the country, of different sizes, and different divisions.

The team's next event will be the McKendree Invitational held on Carlyle Lake on May 4.
