Men's basketball explodes for 145 points in win over Millikin

DECATUR, Ill. -- The men's basketball picked up a convincing 145-128 over Millikin on Saturday in the final contest of the two-day SLIAC/CCIW challenge.  The Panther 145 point outing was a season-high, and they were led by Shane Smith with 23 points.

Overall, Greenville saw six players reach double figures in scoring.  Smith was followed by Kenny Greene, 18 points; Michael Hohm, 16; DeAndre Brown, 14; Elmo Smith, 14; and Ethan Leib, 11.

Elmo Smith was the top rebounder for Greenville with eight on the evening.

Johari Dix passed out six assists.

Greenville made 45-of-89 shots, hitting their shots at a mark just over 50 percent.  They were 16-of-49 from behind the three-point line, and they made nearly 80 percent of their free throws (39-of-49).

Daniel Saeli picked up five of Greenville's 16 steals, and their defensive pressure forced Millikin into committing 39 turnovers.

The Panthers opened their season 3-0 for the first time since 2012.  They host Lincoln Christian on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
