Men's basketball tops Iowa Wesleyan to secure SLIAC tourney berth

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team continued their quest to serve as host and No. 1 seed in the SLIAC tournament with a 122-114 over Iowa Wesleyan to gain redemption over a team that defeated them earlier in the season.

The Panthers led for nearly the entire contest, only slipping behind briefly by four points in the second half.

Kenny Greene had a double-double for Greenville as he dropped in 26 points and picked up 15 rebounds in the win.

Elmo Smith provided 20 points and six rebounds, while Shane Smith chipped in 19 points.

Stevonte Young led the Panther defense with four of Greenville's 15 steals.  Iowa Wesleyan committed 25 turnovers.

Johari Dix found open shooters all night as he had a team-high seven assists.

The Panthers (18-4, 12-3 SLIAC) travel to Eureka for a game on Saturday.  The Panthers are tied with Westminster for first place with identical 12-3 conference records.
