DEFIANCE, Ohio -- The men's basketball team returned to the floor on Friday against Waynesburg in Defiance's tournament and were nipped 127-125.

The Panthers trailed 73-57 at halftime but put together a second half effort that saw them pull ahead with a little under 10 minutes to play in the game.  The Panthers took a 124-123 lead on a layup by Johari Dix with 37 seconds to go, but Waynesburg made a pair of free throws to pull ahead by one.

Dix was fouled and made one of two free throws to tie the game at 125-all with seven seconds to go, but the Panthers gave up a layup with five seconds remaining that gave Waynesburg the win.

Marvin Bateman was Greenville's leading scorer in the game with 23 points as six Panthers reached double-figure scoring efforts.  Sonti Grady returned to the court to put 17 points in the scorebook, and Daniel Saeli posted 15 pionts.

Josias Parker filled up his stats line with eight assists and five steals.

Greenville's pressure resulted in 31 Waynesburg turnovers, and the Panthers picked up 21 steals.

The Panthers (5-5) face the host Defiance in the consolation game on Saturday.
