Men's basketball drops to second in SLIAC standings with loss at Blackburn

CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team fell to Blackburn on Saturday as the Beavers came out on top 117-108.

Greenville trailed by four, 59-55 at halftime, and were topped in the second half by a 58-53 margin.

Barry Nixon was the Panthers leading scorer with 21 points.  Johari Dix dropped 18 points on the scoreboard.

Nixon topped Greenville with eight rebounds, and Dix was the leader with six assists.

The Panthers forced Blackburn into committing 30 turnovers, and they came out with 12 steals.

Greenville shot just 35 percent from the field (34-of-96), including a mark of 27 percent (18-of-65) behind the three-point arc.

The game featured eight ties and 14 lead changes.

The Panthers (7-6, 4-2 SLIAC) host Principia in a SLIAC game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
