GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team ran away from Westminster in the SLIAC semifinals and won 125-112 on Thursday night.

The Panthers were led by the scoring trio of Johari Dix, Sonti Grady, and Marvin Bateman, all three of whom reached the 20 point mark.  Dix led Greenville with 26 points, and Grady and Bateman each had 20.

GU scored the first eight points of the game and never trailed.  The Panthers advantage reached 23 points with 8:23 remaining in the contest.

Greenville took a 61-50 lead to the locker room at halftime.

Westminster did their part to help the Panthers as the Blue Jays committed 28 turnovers.  Greenville had 13 steals.

Barry Nixon ended Thursday's game with a double-double performance of 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Dix collected seven steals.

Prior to the contest, GU student-athletes, coach, and team were given all-conference honors.

Dix was selected to the first team and all-defensive team.  Isiah Price took away third team honors.  Ethan Leib was Greenville's honoree on the All-Sportsmanship team.

Head coach George Barber received his second coach of the year award.  He guided the Panthers to their third straight share of a SLIAC regular season title and second outright regular-season championship.

The Panthers were 17-8 overall and finished 14-4 in SLIAC play this season. Greenville currently leads NCAA Division III in scoring and was part of an NCAA Division III record for combined points in a game earlier this season. This is the second time that Barber has won the award, also winning in 2016.

The Panthers (18-8) have advanced to the SLIAC championship game for the second consecutive year, and they will meet Blackburn, an 86-80 overtime winner against Eureka, on Saturday at 1 p.m.
