Men's basketball wins consolation bracket at Case Western Reserve

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The men's basketball team put 145 points on the scoreboard in their 145-140 win against Central (Iowa) on Saturday.

Greenville trailed 72-68 at halftime but came back to outscore Central 77-68 in the second half and take the consolation championship at Case Western Reserve.

Sontiago Grady led a group of six Panthers that ended with double-figure scoring marks. Grady made 9-of-14 shots, including 3-of-6 three-pointers and 6-of-7 free throws for 27 points.

Rakim Murphy scored 25 points, and Riley Simmons added 17.

Quincy Pinkard totaled 16 points, Henry Johnson had 14, and Kameron Vinsel posted 11.

Greenville's Dustin Bankowski ended with eight assists to pace the team.

Johnson finished with five steals, and the Panthers forced 26 turnovers by Central.

The Panthers (1-1) travel to the Chicago region next weekend for games at North Central and Carthage.
