Men's soccer locks up with Ozarks in 1-1 draw

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to two matches with a 1-1 draw against Ozarks on Friday.  The contest started one hour later than scheduled due a lightning delay during the women's matchup that preceded the contest.

The teams waited out a lightning delay of their own with 1:02 remaining in the first half, and the game was completed 29 seconds into the overtime period due to lightning.

The scoreless duel was broken by Ozarks at the beginning of the second half, and Greenville tied the game in the 68th minute with Edgar Bueno's goal.

The Panthers received two shots from Bueno and Tyler Earick, and goalkeeper Nick Holland had one save.

"Tonight we came out and put in a performance," said head coach Chris Swift.

"I am super proud of the guys. In a game that got heated, we maintained our composure, fought through adversity, and came away with a hard fought draw."

"Bueno was the key for us. He came out buzzing, raised everybody's level, and capped it off with a great goal."

"We have a little time to recover before we hit the road next week."

Greenville (1-3-1) continues their season on Friday, Sept. 16, at Coe.
