Men's soccer gains overtime win at Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The men's soccer team received the game-winning overtime goal from Jon Adams as he lifted the Panthers to a 2-1 win over Coe on Friday.

Greenville struck first in the 16th minute, as Caleb Mulholland scored his first goal of the year in the upper right corner of the goal.

The Panthers took the 1-0 lead into halftime, but Coe evened the match early in the second half.

Greenville posted nine shots in the match and five on goal.

Coe was able to come up with 10 shots, including five on goal.

Nick Holland totaled four saves.

We have got to find a way to get some consistency in our performances," said head coach Chris Swift.  "We got the win today, but we didn't play well, and when you are having a bad game the way to overcome that is through work rate, and quite frankly we didn't work hard enough tonight."
"The positive thing from tonight is that despite that, we found a way to win, and it was the kind of scrappy goal that you need to dig you out of a bad performance."
"It's a good thing we have another game tomorrow because that is another opportunity to play and get better as conference starts next week."

The Panthers (2-3-1) travel to Maranatha Baptist for a match on Saturday.
